IoT Networking Workshop

Stefan Schmidt

Nuts and Bolts

Session Type

This 5th workshop serves for follow-up discussions and status updates on former workshops we have been running at earlier NetDev conference editions.

This workshop in general aims to identify generic requirements for the networking subsystem for IoT and starting the process of addressing the gaps found. The workshop will encompass related MAC layers, networking protocols, adaptation layers, header compressions, and routing protocols.

A rough idea of the agenda can be found below. The final one depends on who can attend and input from the attendees. We will post the final agenda closer to the conference date:

- IoT gateway/hub networking requirements
- Discuss needed kernel interfaces for RPL implementations (unstrung, rpld)
- ieee802154 and 6lowpan subsystems
- More subsystems depending on attendees CAN, LoRa, etc.
