Assistance for visitors to Canada

Note: There are new requirements for entering Canada if you do not have a visa and if you are not from the United States. See here for more info and some links.

Foreign attendees might need an invitation letter in order to obtain a visa to get into Canada.

After you have registered, we can issue you an invitation letter on request. Send an email to info@netdevconf.info with a request for a letter. We will arrange to get the required information, which we will put into a letter, print, sign and send to you by postal mail.

Canadian Border Services has some information for Visitors to Canada. That page has information about the Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA), and visas.

If you dont need a visa to get to Canada (EU folks) then you will need to get an ETA. Please visit this site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/eta.asp And for a quick test of whether you need it go here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp

The list of countries whose citizens need a visa to enter Canada is here.

It is up to you to determine the requirements and comply with them.

Travel to Montreal

You can reach Montreal by plane, car, train or bus.

All scheduled airline passenger flights to and from Montreal arrive at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International airport (YUL), formerly called Montréal Dorval International Airport.

Montreal Airport Layout

Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International is composed of one single terminal, facilitating the boarding of connecting flights. The terminal is divided into four sections: public, domestic, international and transborder flights to the United States.

The first floor is for passenger departure check-in and the ground floor is for arrivals and baggage claim.

International Travel

Airlines servicing Trudeau offer non-stop flights to five continents, namely Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America.

The air route between Montreal and Paris (CDG and ORY airports) is the busiest international route from Canada.

Internet Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport.

Public Transit

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is Montreal's public transport system. Passes can be purchased individually or in bundles of unlimited evenings, unlimited weekends, 2 trips or 10 trips.

The 747's fare is $10 and includes 24 hours of transit use.

The 747 does not stop at individual hotels, but the metro or bus can take you close to your hotel at no extra cost.

To purchase a 747 ticket at the airport, see the STM information counter in the international arrival area or find an STM representative near the bus stop outside the airport.

Travel time may vary between 45 to 75 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
